ughhh I really enjoyed this, Tea! Bike-riding while in an unfamiliar location is such a precious experience. I spent some time living on an island in Belize and stepped out of my comfort zone to rent a bike. I was born in London and am used to catching the tube everywhere, impatiently (city girl habits). At first it was so tempting to just walk or catch a taxi everywhere while in Belize but I am glad that I rented that bike for the last few months of my stay. I gradually got better and less embarrassed which unlocked a new side of my inner-exploration and of the island. I resonate with so much of your experiences around learning how to push past the discomfort while travelling. Thank you for introducing me to the discomfort inventory, I've never heard of this before. I think I will definitely incorporate this into my pre and post-travel checks. So much gratitude!

Hahaha I totally get the impatient city girl habits after living in Chicago for several years! One day I decided to "take inventory" on things that make me feel uncomfortable and then my "discomfort inventory" happened. It's so cool to know that you might start your own!

There's something so vulnerable about starting biking, especially in a different country. There are so many unknowns that we leave for the moment we have to deal with them: parking, rules of the road, the route we take, etc. I love that this small change brought you a new kind of exploration in Belize. Biking is something that on the outside sounds so simple but really can hold a lot of uneasiness. I appreciate your courage to conquer discomfort and ponder new ways to discover! Thank you for sharing your experience Amara!

100%, I appreciate the invitation to think about my own inventory. I think the uneasiness of it is so worth it once you get on the other side! Looking forward to reading more of your work!

Wow!
